Sometimes these methods bear fruits and the suspect is arrested, charged and convicted, but some criminals are very smart in masking their crimes, making it hard for investigators to unravel the details of the crime.

The first method is the crime scene investigation where an investigator analyzes the location where it is alleged that the crime took place. Some of the information that investigators look for include any items that are misplaced, any missing items and anything else that is out of ordinary. All these information allows the investigators to have a basis for their investigation.

The crime scene is very fragile, hence a lot of care is needed. Thus, investigators are required to wear protective clothing such as gloves to avoid introducing anything to the crime or taking anything from it. A Lot of care is also needed to store every item that is collected. However, there are many methods of storing the evidence and each one depends on the nature of evidence.

The undercover method is another CID methods used in collecting information about certain crime. It involves an investigator pretending to be another person to gain access into a position where they can effectively collect information. However, this is one of these methods that require a high level of training on the side of detectives to ensure that the information they collect is admissible.

Depending on the complexity of interview the investigation may adopt simple or complex interviewing techniques. Cognitive interview and the use of hypnosis method are some of complex interviewing techniques. There are lots of controversies on the effectiveness of these methods. Undercover method is another methods use by investigators. It involves detectives adoption a different identity in order to collect vital information to present to a court of law. Detectives working as undercover investigators need to be highly trained to ensure that the collected evidence is useful in the court process.

The other method is the use of undercover investigators. These are the detectives who take up roles as a different person in order to collect information to be used in the court of law. Even though this is one of the most effective methods professionals detectives are needed to ensure that all rules are followed to ensure admissibility of evidence.

The other method is the use of technology such as the closed circuit television. These televisions have the ability to capture the motion as well as the audio of the suspects and to record this information for later retrievals. There are a variety of rules governing the use of CCTV due to the high possibility of them infringing on people rights. Surveillance is another crucial investigation method where a trained investigator trails the suspects to as they plan, commit or even after they have committed the crime.

In conclusion, not all methods are relevant for every type of investigation. Thus, there are many factors that determine the method to be used and these includes the information needed, whether the subject under investigation is criminal or non-criminal among other factors. However, methods such as interview are found in most of the investigations. Be well equipped with information.
