There are many things which you should keep in mind when making a decision as to which prisoner transport systems to use.

You need to determine the mode of transportation that would be most appropriate depending on the circumstances that are involved. In some cases, it may be more suitable to use road, while in other cases, air or rail transport may be more suitable. Factors that affect the choice the choice of transportation include the urgency of the situation, the distance to be travelled and the available options.

The cost of transportation matters. This is because it can be quite expensive to move inmates from one area to another one. Costs incurred are influenced by various factors. This includes the cost of fuel and the cost of compensating the law enforcement officers that are involved in the transportation exercise. You also have to factor in the cost of securing the inmates as they are transported. Food and clothing also have to be paid for.

The number of prisoners to be transported requires consideration. If you will only be moving a few inmates at a time, then you only need a small vehicle. Having a variety of vehicles in different sizes will come in handy, as you can easily switch to the most suitable option depending on the circumstances.

You can buy ready-made vehicles that are already secured or you can have them customized to your needs. Customized vehicles are a good option if you want particular features added to the vehicle that you will be using. Unconvicted criminals or petty offenders may not require as much surveillance, as they are unlikely to mastermind an escape. You may require extra armored and secured vehicles to move high profile inmates.

It should be possible for prison staff to communicate with each other quite easily during the transportation process. That is why it is essential that the vehicle comes fitted with good communication equipment. You should also have room to install your own communication equipment if you want. This will allow guards to call for help when they need it.

Make sure to purchase your vehicle from a recognized and certified vendor. This increases the chances that the product you get meets the required standards of security. Always check to see if the vendor is recognized by state security agents.
